There has been a recent trend where preachers have been admonishing the body not to respond to negative talk, but to remain silent.
I heard the admonition spoken during a Bible Study session when the teacher spoke of holding her peace in school and later on her job although viscious rumors and flat-out lies were being told about her.
Within hours, I received notice of a video by Evangelist Perry Stone being posted requesting prayer for the attacks coming his way that God was not allowing him to respond to.
This was followed up when I sat down to watch Christian Television and Pastor TD Jakes spoke about it on TBN in an interview with Matt and Laurie Crouch.
And then I was led in Scripture to these verses:
1Peter 2:20-23 (NIV)
20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
So I'd like to say to those of us who are enduring the assasination of our character and the defaming of our name, keep silent! Let the JUST JUDGE vindicate us! What better answer could there be than the one HE gives!
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Stand on this instruction and Believe God...
